The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has approved PHR’s request to amend the decree on indictment against Nikoloz Basilashvili. During the investigation, the evidence obtained in the case revealed that Nikoloz Basilashvili had committed numerous acts of gender-based physical violence against Neli Dorokashvili. In addition, Nikoloz Basilashvili has been committing systematic acts of gender-based psychological and economic violence for years, as a result of which Neli Dorokashvili has experienced severe psychological harm and suffering.
As of today, the Prosecutor’s Office accuses N. Basilashvili of 4 episodes of physical violence against N. Dorokashvili on various grounds at different times. The episodes include systematic psychological and economic acts of violence.
The legal representatives of N.Dorokashvili note that several other incidents of violence have run out the statute of limitation, however, these incidents should be taken into account when assessing the gravity of the crimes.
The court hearing on the criminal case of Nikoloz Basilashvili is scheduled for October 20.
